Biography

Alma grew up in south-central Los Angeles with a passion for the creative arts, particiularly in film production and writing. She began her Yale undergraduate career as a film major while taking coursework that focused on creating life-changing outcomes for diverse marginalized communities (indigenous, immigrant/refugee, women of color, the incarcerated, lgbqt+, etc.). As her studies progressed, she became more interested in technology, healthcare, and business to create better life-outcomes, capital, and contributions of these same marginalized communities. Her interest in technology led her to take courses in statistics and a bootcamp that introduced her to web development, ux/ui design, quality assurance, and project management.
Alma currently works for a consulting firm, the Center for Corporate Innovation (CCI), and manages roundtables between various C-suite executives such as Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, and/or General Counsels to name a few. These roundtables allow executives to problem-solve current and future challenges together and stay on top of issues with invited speakers who are experts in their fields. Alma is professionally interested in the fields of healthcare, technology, business as well as their overlap with law. Alma's natural passion for creative problem-solving and connecting people in diverse fields to cross-collaborate motivates her to return to graduate school for business.
Alma regularly volunteers with various local community organizations and churches, offering her skills in project management, organization, and translation.
