Biography
Alyssa Chiang will be completing the bioengineering Ph.D. program at U.C. San Diego in 2025. After having worked a year at the Sanford Consortium on breast cancer metastasis, she currently works in the Biodynamics Laboratory on developing bacterial biosensors and synthetic ecologies on funding from the NSF Fellowship. During her undergraduate program in bioengineering, she spent one summer studying abroad in Barcelona and another working at the USS Midway. She is also passionate about Asian American & Pacific Islander empowerment and recently started Lotus Magazine, a lifestyle magazine for the modern AAPI person.

Creating space for the modern Asian-American individual. Alyssa Chiang, MS ‘15, co-founded Lotus Magazine in 2020, a bi-monthly e-magazine which has grown to more than 250 subscribers. The lifestyle magazine serves as a platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of the Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) community as it shares stories and perspectives aimed at empowering, inspiring, and promoting visibility.
