Daniel Payan
Law
Biography
Dan graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School with a Master’s in Public Policy (M.P.P.) degree in 2010. He then returned to Los Angeles to attend the UCLA School of Law, and graduated from the David J. Epstein Program in Public Interest Law & Policy. He is currently a Management Fellow with LA County. While clerking with the California Attorney General's Office in the summer of 2011, the California Court of Appeals accepted an argument Dan made about the designer drug ecstasy, and reversed previous decisions that have resulted in dealers of designer drugs being released on a legal technicality. The case was certified for publication, and will likely serve as precedent in future designer drug cases. Dan and his wife Denise are working to address criminal justice and public health problems facing vulnerable populations. They live in Los Angeles with their daughter Sophia.
