Destin Bigsby

Biography

Destin is a 2020 graduate of UC San Diego, where he earned a BA in Political Science with a Minor in Human Rights. After graduation, he chose to pursue a career in non-profit development and communications, driven by a passion for advocating on issues such as income inequality, housing insecurity, and environmental justice. He initially worked for an LA-based non-profit family law firm before transitioning in 2022 to his current role as Development & Marketing Coordinator at the LA Conservation Corps.

The LA Conservation Corps is the largest local corps in the United States, with a mission to create equitable opportunities for young people to build resilience in themselves, their communities, and the environment through a program of work, education, and support. In his current role, Destin manages the organization's social media, public relations, digital marketing, and donor database. His favorite aspect of the job is filming, editing, and producing video content for the Corps’ social media, website, and annual fundraising event. Destin takes pride in his storytelling skills and is committed to advocating for equity and environmental justice in the greater Los Angeles area.

A native of Long Beach, California, Destin graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School. While in high school, he produced four award-winning documentaries for the C-SPAN Student Cam competition and founded a club called One Big Deed, which raised thousands of dollars to provide housing-insecure students across the Long Beach Unified School District with cap and gown, yearbooks, prom tickets, and grad night passes.

Destin currently resides in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles with his wife and their adorable dog, Ringo.
