Biography
Katelyn recently graduated from Caltech with degrees in biology and geobiology. While at Caltech, she has volunteered her time as the Head Peer Advocate in her residence, planning events for students and being available as a resource if her peers are struggling. She earned an Outstanding Leader Award from the Office of Student Experience for her work in this position. She was on the Executive Committee of the Caltech Y, a service organization at Caltech. At the Y, she tutored at-risk youth at the Flintridge Center, helped to organize Make a Difference Day (which connects students with volunteer organizations in the Pasadena area), and organized a Science Policy trip to Washington DC for students. She also worked at the Y during the summer between her undergraduate and graduate programs. She also volunteered as a Health Care Extender at UCLA Medical Center, receiving the CICARE Service Excellence Award in 2022 for her work there. She organized an Enrichment trip to Iceland for students in the Geological and Planetary Sciences department at Caltech, allowing students to explore the concepts they learned in the classroom in a practical setting. She has also written for the Caltech newspaper. She also worked as an usher for special events at Caltech. During her time at Caltech, Katelyn worked as a Medical Scribe at a private practice, where she oversaw a remote blood pressure monitoring program.
Now, Katelyn is pursuing her Master's in Public Health at USC with a concentration in Community Health Promotion.
