The Seine winds through the heart of Paris, carrying centuries of history and culture. People stroll, boats tour, and buildings look out onto this iconic waterway. The Seine embodies Parisian charm. Paris plans for the river Seine will get its moment to shine on the world stage with the upcoming Olympics. City officials are hoping for the swimming leg of the triathlon event to take place in the Seine. However, there are issues with Paris’s water management that currently make the river unsafe to swim in.

Throughout my trip in Bangladesh, I worked for my nonprofit Efforts in Youth Development of Bangladesh (EYDB). We are currently working on a project in Khulna, Bangladesh, related to quality education and sustainable entrepreneurship. We are building a school for 40 slum children who currently do not have acess to quality education.

There was turmoil domestically as Exxon Valdez spilled 11 million gallons of oil in Alaska; and then, a student-led uprising in Tiananmen Square, China.

As opposed to the art in museums and at exuberantly priced galleries, there is art that the everyday commoner passes by on the daily: street art. The origins of street art are unknown, though the 1960s served as an influential era in a time period where turmoil, unrest, and major social and political changes were underway. Its popularity became an epicenter for opinion and influence (Cowick, 2015). With its public display, and ever changing canvas, street art is an eclectic and powerful medium. Three English cities capture its powerful influence: Brighton, London, and Lewes.

My recent week-long trip to India (Feb 12-19, 2024) provided eye-opening perspectives into the cultural unity and diversity spanning the nation. As the most populous country and seventh largest by land area, India encompasses over 1.4 billion people across a multitude of ethnicities, languages, faiths, and traditions.
