Biography
Wyles earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Stanford. While an undergraduate, he raced with Stanford's cycling team and was a member of the team that participated in the 2011 World Solar Challenge in Australia. After leaving Stanford, he joined Apple, where he worked as a manufacturing design engineer and served as a lecturer in bicycle design and frame-building at Stanford. Wyles is now a Process Engineer at Gigavac, part of Sensata Technologies, since October 2019. He is developing assembly lines for new products in automotive electric propulsion. Wyles lives in Carpinteria, CA with his wife Claire, and spends free time on the ocean or in the mountains, both five minutes away.

News and Highlights
Close finish. The 2011 Veolia World Solar Challenge, a 3,000 km solar car race in Australia, has wrapped up. Wyles Vance, MS ’07and the Stanford Solar Car Team placed 11th out of 37 teams from around the world. Congratulations to Stanford for a great race.
